GLOSSARY

In general, we have tried to avoid the use of highly specific technical terminology. Most of the words employed, like 'surface water' and 'groundwater', are either self-explanatory, or so commonplace that explanations are not really required.

An excellent glossary of water terminology is published by the Portland, Oregon, office of the US Geological Survey. Gregg Eckhardt's web site on the Edwards Aquifer in Texas also has an excellent glossary attached.

If you need to change Imperial (i.e. American) to metric units for water measurement, or vice versa, here are the conversion factors.
